With the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we've all had to make big changes to our lifestyles. I hope you are all staying healthy and well!
Music provides comfort in uncertain times. I'm happy to say that piano lessons are still available with online Zoom meetings. You can join your lesson from the comfort of your own home, and all you need is a tablet or smartphone. I'll send out a link to join the meeting. Regular lesson times will be offered, but if your schedule has changed, please let me know and we can discuss alternate times. The studio schedule will be updated to show some newly available time slots.
Lessons resume on April 1st, 2020. I'm looking forward to seeing you!
With the COVID-19 situation rapidly developing, and at the advice of MYC, my studio will be moving to online lessons for the remainder of March 2020. Lessons will be done via Skype or Zoom. Both of these are free apps that don't require a membership or account to join an online meeting. Prior to your lesson, I will send you a link to join the online meeting from your computer or tablet. I will also be pre-recording some video lesson segments to allow for better sound quality.
If the health authority and governments are still recommending social distancing in April, lessons will continue online. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I hope you are all staying well, and finding ways to stay occupied. If you'd like some activities, try browsing through the Online Resources section of the student portal. There are worksheets and activities for students.
Did you know Music for Young Children turns 40 this year? Here's some more information about MYC from their website.
MYC is a Proven, Quality Method Music for Young Children® has been teaching children from the ages of 2-10 the foundation of music education and piano playing, in a group situation, for 40 years. Today there are over 800 locations on 3 continents, confirming that we are an international leading quality program for early childhood music education.
Designed and written by an early-childhood specialist with specific qualifications not only in music education, but learning styles and learning disabilities, our method speaks directly to our students with age-appropriate activities to help develop not only their ability to play and read music, but also cognitive, physical and social skills.
The Core of Our Music Programs MYC is the only early-childhood music education method that integrates and utilizes Conservatory repertoire within our own method, working towards each MYC graduate completing their first piano exam and theory exam.
Robust Teacher Training and Qualification
MYC has over 900 teachers around the world, and 24,000 students enjoy our programs every year. Teachers must meet certain requirements, and undergo training and regular evaluations. I'm proud to be a trained teacher of MYC programs and I look forward to many more years with them.
